Christian Reformed Church Responds to Content Review Criticism

Dr. Farhan Bhatti, a graduate from 2012, now leads Care Free Medical in Lansing, which was originally founded to provide dignified healthcare for the uninsured and underinsured. Under his leadership, the clinic has expanded to offer dental, optometry, and mental health services and has recently achieved the status of a federally qualified health center (FQHC), allowing it to receive improved compensation for serving Medicaid and Medicare patients. The clinic’s operations are supported by students and residents from the sponsoring college, who participate in patient care and help manage prescription programs. Proposed Medicaid cuts pose a significant risk to FQHCs like Care Free Medical, which deliver essential healthcare in underserved communities across Michigan. The college also continues its commitment to rural healthcare, as highlighted by its work in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
