Brazilian Bodybuilder, Mother Arrested for Wife’s Poisoning After Affair Discovery

Luiz Garnica, a 38-year-old bodybuilder and orthopaedic surgeon from Brazil, has been arrested alongside his mother, Elizabete Arrabaça, on suspicion of poisoning his wife, Larissa Rodrigues, with a deadly pesticide called chumbinho after she discovered his long-term affair. Rodrigues, a 37-year-old Pilates instructor, found evidence of the affair when she discovered sex toys in her husband's car and was reportedly planning to divorce him. Toxicology tests revealed traces of chumbinho in her body, leading police to suspect Garnica and his mother of involvement in her death, which occurred on March 22. Garnica claimed he found his wife unconscious in the bathroom and tried to resuscitate her, but investigators noted inconsistencies, including attempts to clean the apartment and the presence of rigor mortis. Police investigations also revealed that Arrabaça sought to procure the poison prior to the death, strengthening suspicions of their conspiracy. The case remains under investigation as authorities continue to gather evidence surrounding the murder and the couple's troubled relationship.
