DC Studios Renames and Dates Supergirl Film

DC Studios has officially renamed its upcoming Supergirl film from 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow' to simply 'Supergirl,' following a 'premortem' review led by co-head James Gunn. The title change reflects a move away from the typical 'title: subtitle' format and mirrors a similar rebranding for the new Superman film. Leaked footage and comments from Gunn suggest the story may now place greater focus on events on Earth compared to the original cosmic comic arc. Milly Alcock is set to star as Kara Zor-El, with Craig Gillespie directing and Ana Nogueira writing the screenplay. The film marks the second live-action installment in the rebooted DC Universe. 'Supergirl' is scheduled for release on June 26, 2026.
