Airbus Reports Steady Q1 2025 Performance, Maintains Delivery Targets

Airbus reported a strong start to 2025, with first-quarter revenues rising 6% to €13.5 billion and adjusted operating income up 8% to €624 million, outperforming analyst expectations. The company delivered 136 commercial aircraft—slightly fewer than last year—but secured 280 gross orders and maintained an order backlog of 8,726 jets. Robust performance in the defense segment and favorable foreign exchange conditions supported overall results, while free cash flow improved significantly compared to the previous year. Airbus reaffirmed its 2025 targets, expecting around 820 aircraft deliveries and €7 billion in adjusted operating profit, but warned that deliveries remain backloaded due to persistent supply chain issues. The recent acquisition of Spirit AeroSystems’ facilities aims to address production challenges, especially for the A320 and A350 lines, yet external risks like escalating tariffs and trade uncertainties remain unresolved. CEO Guillaume Faury emphasized ongoing efforts to ramp up production and monitor tariff impacts, while supporting a stronger European defense industry.
