Francis Ford Coppola Resting After Scheduled Heart Procedure in Italy
Renowned director Francis Ford Coppola, known for classics like The Godfather and Apocalypse Now, recently underwent a scheduled heart-related medical procedure in Italy and is now resting comfortably. The 86-year-old filmmaker was treated by Dr. Andrea Natale, a cardiologist who has cared for him for over 30 years, addressing a mild cardiac arrhythmia or updating a previous atrial fibrillation treatment. Coppola, who has been in Italy promoting his 2024 self-financed film Megalopolis and scouting locations for future projects, reassured fans with a social media post stating he is well. Despite early reports of emergency surgery, his representatives confirmed the procedure was non-emergency and planned. Megalopolis, a $120 million sci-fi epic starring Adam Driver, had a mixed reception and faced box office challenges. Coppola’s long career includes five Oscars, with a legacy extending through his filmmaker children Sofia and Roman, and connections to actors Nicolas Cage and Jason Schwartzman.
