Leverkusen Striker Schick Doubts Title Chances After Key Player Exits

Bayer Leverkusen striker Patrik Schick has expressed doubts about the team's ability to compete for the Bundesliga title following the departures of several key players, including Granit Xhaka, Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Jonathan Tah. Schick highlighted Xhaka's exit to Sunderland as the biggest loss, emphasizing his leadership and experience, while also noting the difficulty of replacing Wirtz's unique attacking quality. The club has undergone significant changes with the appointment of former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, who faces the challenge of rebuilding the squad after coach Xabi Alonso left for Real Madrid. So far, Leverkusen's off-season signings include American midfielder Malik Tillman, defender Jarell Quansah, goalkeeper Mark Flekken, and promising young midfielder Ibrahim Maza, whom Schick praised. Despite these additions, Schick stressed that the team is currently not in a position to fight for the title and hopes for further reinforcements.
