The Hundred plans IPL-style player auction with salary rises for 2026

The Hundred cricket competition in England will transition from a draft system to an IPL-style player auction for its 2026 season, introducing significant salary increases and new regulations. The men’s salary pot will rise by 45% to £2.05 million per team, while the women’s pot will double to £880,000, with minimum female player salaries increasing by 50% to £15,000. Teams will consist of 16-18 players, now permitted to include up to four overseas players, and multi-year contracts will be introduced. A salary cap and a spending "collar" (minimum spend) will be implemented to regulate team budgets. Teams may make up to four pre-auction signings, with a maximum of three direct signings limited to overseas or England centrally contracted players.
