Nationwide 'No Kings' Protests Draw Massive, Mostly Peaceful Turnouts
Saturday’s “No Kings” demonstrations took place in roughly 2,500–2,700 communities nationwide, with turnout ranging from small-town gatherings to large marches — the NYPD estimated about 100,000 participants in New York City, while organizers and local outlets reported tens of thousands in the Bay Area, about 10,000 in San Antonio, roughly 3,000 in Dallas and State College, and thousands in Rochester. Organized by a broad coalition including groups such as the ACLU and Indivisible, protesters rallied peacefully to denounce what they called authoritarian moves by the Trump administration, citing immigration raids and deportations, expanded executive power, National Guard deployments, detention practices, healthcare cuts and recent shutdowns. Most demonstrations remained orderly with few or no arrests — New York City reported zero protest-related arrests — though federal authorities had warned police in some locations about potential violence. Local events ranged from larger policy-focused rallies to symbolic neighborhood actions and attracted some counter-protesters; organizers and civil-liberties groups said millions were mobilized, while critics decried certain demonstrations as unpatriotic.
