Uber, Waymo Open Waitlist for Robotaxi Service in Atlanta

Uber has launched an interest list for riders in Atlanta who want to request Waymo's driverless vehicles, ahead of the service's anticipated summer rollout. This initiative allows users to increase their chances of being matched with a robotaxi through the Uber app, simplifying access compared to other cities where a separate Waymo app is required. The Atlanta launch follows Uber's previous introduction of Waymo rides in Austin and Phoenix, and the service is set to cover 65 square miles of the city. Riders who join the interest list could receive early access to the robotaxis and will be rewarded with Uber Cash for feedback after their first ride. As competition heats up in the autonomous vehicle market, Lyft is also pursuing similar initiatives with its own partnerships. This expansion marks a significant step in Uber and Waymo's collaboration to integrate autonomous driving into ridesharing.
