Mamdani Leads Citywide; 60% of Jewish Voters Back Cuomo
Citywide polls show progressive Zohran Mamdani holding a commanding lead heading into the Nov. 4 mayoral election — an Emerson/PIX11/The Hill survey put him at about 50% to Andrew Cuomo’s 25% and Curtis Sliwa’s 21%, with especially strong support among young, Black and early voters. Quinnipiac and other polls show New York City’s Jewish voters have largely consolidated behind Cuomo (about 60% in the Quinnipiac sample), citing crime as their top issue and expressing far higher unfavorability toward Mamdani. Cuomo is running as an independent after losing the Democratic primary, and wealthy donors including Michael Bloomberg have poured roughly $5 million into super PACs backing him and opposing Mamdani. The race has grown increasingly bitter and polarized: Cuomo has targeted Mamdani’s experience and criticisms of Israel, prompting accusations that his campaign has stoked Islamophobia, while supporters such as Al Sharpton have defended Mamdani and reporting says Mamdani spoke by phone with Barack Obama, who offered support. Despite late outside spending and consolidation in specific blocs, polls and early-vote patterns leave Mamdani with a substantial advantage though dynamics could shift in the final days.
