Anaergia Signs EPC Deal for Riverside Renewable Gas Project

Anaergia Inc. has agreed to sell its Riverside Bioenergy Facility LLC, a development-stage renewable natural gas (RNG) project in Riverside, California, to a developer backed by institutional investors while continuing to provide engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), and long-term operations and maintenance (O&M) services. This capital-light strategy allows Anaergia to reduce its financial exposure while contributing technology and operational expertise, with EPC work scheduled for 2026–2027 and expected revenue of approximately C$39 million. The project aims to transform organic waste into RNG at the Riverside Water Quality Control Plant, helping the city reduce its carbon footprint and comply with California's SB1383 regulations mandating significant organic waste recycling. By maintaining involvement through EPC and O&M contracts, Anaergia secures ongoing revenue and quality control over its technology, aligning with its broader commitment to impactful climate solutions. The transaction remains subject to lease amendments, regulatory approvals, and other standard conditions. This approach highlights a growing industry trend toward institutional partnerships to finance and scale renewable energy infrastructure projects.
