Detroit Siblings Charged in Eastpointe Foot Locker Double Homicide

A deadly shooting at a Foot Locker parking lot in Eastpointe, Michigan, involved Detroit siblings Lakylia Sheila Taylor and Dejuan Jermain Taylor and resulted in two fatalities and two injuries. The altercation began when Dejuan got into a physical fight with a group, including Tyjaune Pierre Morris-Turner, who was armed; Lakylia then retrieved an unregistered firearm and fired, killing two men and injuring others including her brother. Dejuan was charged with multiple crimes including tampering with evidence, firearms larceny, and carrying a concealed weapon, while Lakylia faces charges including second-degree homicide and felony firearm counts. Lakylia's defense attorney claims she acted in self-defense to protect her brother from being shot during the confrontation, and video evidence is expected to support this claim. Both siblings fled the scene initially, but Lakylia surrendered to police days later. Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido condemned the violence, emphasizing that while self-defense is lawful, street justice is unacceptable and that justice will be pursued fully.
