Norris Takes Blame for Crash With Piastri
Lando Norris accepted full blame for colliding with his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri during the closing stages of the Canadian Grand Prix, resulting in Norris's first retirement of the season and increasing his championship deficit to 22 points. Norris apologized to both Piastri and the team, while Piastri, who finished fourth, described the incident as unfortunate but fair and not malicious. McLaren's team principal Andrea Stella called the crash a misjudgment and said it would be reviewed, but both drivers expect the team to maintain its free racing policy. Mercedes achieved a 1-3 finish, with George Russell winning the race and Kimi Antonelli becoming the third youngest podium finisher in history. This marked the first time this season that McLaren missed the podium. Despite the setback, analysts believe Norris can remain in championship contention with strong performances going forward.
