Intuitive Machines Plans Acquisition of KinetX to Boost Deep Space Navigation

Intuitive Machines has announced a definitive agreement to acquire KinetX, a seasoned aerospace firm with over 30 years of expertise in deep space navigation, flight dynamics, and constellation mission design. This acquisition, expected to close before the end of 2025, will integrate KinetX's proprietary navigation software and systems engineering capabilities, which have supported missions to Mercury, Pluto, the Moon, and various U.S. defense programs, into Intuitive Machines’ operations. The move significantly enhances Intuitive Machines’ position as a vertically integrated provider of end-to-end systems for lunar, Mars, and deep space missions, particularly in autonomous data relay and secure constellation management. KinetX is the only commercial company certified by NASA for deep space navigation and has already contributed to Intuitive Machines’ successful lunar landings in 2024 and 2025. This strategic acquisition addresses the growing demand for scalable, secure space communication infrastructure supporting NASA's Artemis program, Mars exploration, and commercial ventures, positioning Intuitive Machines for leadership in the evolving space economy. CEO Steve Altemus emphasized that bringing KinetX in-house accelerates their capacity to deliver critical infrastructure services for NASA, National Security Space, and future Mars operations.
