Marcos Names Singson, Fajardo to Independent Flood Probe Commission

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed former Public Works Secretary Rogelio “Babes” Singson and SGV & Co. country managing partner Rossana Fajardo as members of the three-member Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), which will investigate anomalies in flood control and other national infrastructure projects from the past decade. Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong will serve as the commission’s special adviser and investigator, while the chairperson is yet to be named. Established through Executive Order 94, the ICI holds powers similar to congressional committees, including issuing subpoenas, recommending charges, and coordinating with other government agencies to address corruption and misuse of public funds. Singson’s technical expertise in project design and procurement and Fajardo’s extensive background in financial auditing and risk management are expected to be crucial for the commission’s work. The ICI aims to confront systemic issues by investigating ghost projects and ensuring transparency, with the authority to recommend criminal, civil, and administrative cases. President Marcos has emphasized the commission’s independence and commitment to thorough investigations amid ongoing congressional probes into flood control project irregularities.
