CenterPoint Energy Foundation Donates $500K to Indiana Dolly Parton Imagination Library

Indiana's Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, which mails free books monthly to children up to age five, faced funding cuts after the state government eliminated its support. In response, First Lady Maureen Braun launched a private fundraising initiative to sustain and expand the program across the state. The CenterPoint Energy Foundation donated $500,000 to the Indiana State Library Foundation, marking the largest publicly announced gift to the effort and helping ensure continued access to books for over 127,000 Hoosier children currently enrolled. The program, which Governor Eric Holcomb previously supported with a $6 million matching grant, aims to foster early literacy and bonding between parents and children. CenterPoint Energy emphasized its commitment to community support and education through this donation. Families in Indiana can still enroll their children through local program partners to receive these books at no cost.
