Bucs’ Godwin, Wirfs Return to Practice Before Texans Game
Tampa Bay Buccaneers key players wide receiver Chris Godwin and left tackle Tristan Wirfs both returned to practice after recovering from significant injuries, though neither is expected to play in the upcoming Monday night game against the Houston Texans. Godwin is continuing to recover from a fractured ankle sustained last season and a minor ankle procedure this spring, with expectations to return around Week 5 or 6, depending on his progress. Wirfs, who underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in July, appears closer to a return, having been seen jogging and showing promising recovery signs, potentially returning sooner than Godwin. Their return is highly anticipated as both are vital contributors to one of the NFL's top scoring offenses last season. In their absence, the Buccaneers adjusted their offensive line by moving center Cody Barton to left tackle and using other players to fill gaps, while rookie Emeka Egbuka stepped up at wide receiver. Coach Todd Bowles remains cautious, listing right tackle Luke Goedeke as questionable for Monday's game due to a foot injury, while confirming that both Wirfs and Godwin are out, with replacements ready if needed.
