Son of Alleged LA Crips Leader Jabari Henley Fatally Shot in South Los Angeles
Jabari "Baby Uiie" Henley, the 34-year-old son of Eugene "Big U" Henley, a reputed leader of the Rollin' 60s Crips and influential figure in the Los Angeles rap scene, was fatally shot outside a smoke shop in South Los Angeles. The shooting occurred after Jabari approached a vehicle near the intersection of 69th Street and Figueroa Street, where suspects inside the vehicle opened fire and fled the scene; he was pronounced dead at the location. Eugene Henley, known as the "godfather of rap" and credited with launching Nipsey Hussle's career, is currently incarcerated and facing multiple federal charges including racketeering, extortion, fraud, and allegations related to the 2021 murder of an aspiring rapper. Despite the serious accusations, Eugene Henley maintains his innocence. Authorities have not confirmed whether Jabari's shooting was gang-related. The tragedy has deeply affected the Henley family, including another son, Daiyan Henley, who plays linebacker for the Los Angeles Chargers.
