60-Year-Old Arrested After Croydon Park Shooting

A 60-year-old man was arrested after allegedly firing about 50–100 rounds from a unit above shops on Georges River Road in Croydon Park, Sydney, on Sunday evening, prompting large lockdowns. Police say he fired indiscriminately from about 7:45pm to 9:30pm, striking at least 13 vehicles and shattering bus-stop and car windows. Between 16 and 20 people were hurt; one man self-presented to hospital with a gunshot wound and underwent surgery in serious/critical condition, while others suffered shrapnel wounds, glass cuts or shock. Police recovered one or two rifles and said the suspect did not hold a firearms licence; he was treated for minor injuries during his arrest and remains in custody.
