Waldorf Man Arrested After Arson Attempt During Domestic Dispute

Omar Shariff Harrison, a 49-year-old man from Waldorf, Maryland, was arrested after allegedly setting fire to the bed where his wife was sleeping while their two children were also inside the home. This incident occurred following a domestic dispute, with deputies having responded to the same residence the previous night and the couple agreeing to separate within the house. Harrison reportedly poured gasoline on the bed and down the stairs before igniting the sheets, but he later extinguished the fire himself. Fortunately, the wife and children escaped unharmed, and damage to the home was minimal, estimated at around $500. The fire was directly linked to the ongoing domestic dispute, during which Harrison had threatened to burn down the house. He faces multiple charges including attempted murder, first- and second-degree arson, malicious burning, reckless endangerment, and arson threat, and remains in custody awaiting bond review.
