Multiple small vegetation fires broke out in California on Friday, prompting significant firefighting efforts. In Tehama County near Vina, the Lassen Fire burned 2-3 acres of vegetation, leading CAL FIRE to request additional aerial support including Type 1 air tankers and a helicopter. In Otay Mesa, south San Diego, a one-acre brush fire near Palm Avenue and Dennery Road led to shelter-in-place advisories for nearby residents, though no evacuation orders or structural threats were reported. Fire crews quickly contained the Otay Mesa fire, which was no longer burning heavy fuels within 40 minutes.
