Multiple Structure Fires in Topeka, Julian, Arkwright, Ashford, Dayton

Multiple structure fires were reported Sunday across the U.S., including incidents in Topeka, Kan.; Julian, Calif.; Arkwright, N.Y.; Ashford, Conn.; and Dayton, Ohio. In Topeka, a fire at Southwest 6th and Frazier around 6 p.m. was extinguished with no injuries reported. In Julian, a fully involved structure fire on Pheasant Drive spread to about a quarter-acre of vegetation before air resources halted its forward progress; the cause remains under investigation. In Arkwright, a 5:45 a.m. house fire on Park Road prompted the resident to evacuate with her dog and required eight fire companies and water tankers after a dry hydrant failed, though no injuries were reported. In Ashford, crews extinguished a garage fire on Ference Road with minimal damage and everyone safe. In Dayton, firefighters were on scene at a house fire near E Parkwood Drive and Newport Avenue as details remained developing.
