Killeen Police Investigate Officer-Involved Shooting After Fatal Incident

Early Sunday morning in Killeen, Texas, police responded to a shots fired call on Blake Street where they found a man who reported another person inside the home had been shot. As officers investigated, they were fired upon from inside the residence, prompting the Killeen Police Tactical Response Unit to deploy SWAT officers to breach the door. Inside, they found a 25-year-old man with gunshot wounds who was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect, a 36-year-old man, continued firing at officers as they attempted to aid the victim, leading the officers to return fire and wound the suspect, who was airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in stable condition. The officer involved, a four-year veteran of the department, has been placed on administrative leave per policy while investigations continue, led by the Killeen Police Criminal Investigations Division with support from Internal Affairs and the Bell County District Attorney's Office. Authorities have not released the identities of the victim or suspect, and the situation remains under active investigation.
