Birmingham City Confirm Nigerian Defender Osayi-Samuel Signing
Birmingham City has signed Nigerian international defender Bright Osayi-Samuel on a three-year contract after his contract expired with Turkish club Fenerbahce. The 27-year-old versatile full-back, who can play as a right-back, wing-back, or winger, joins the club as they prepare for life back in the Championship following their League One title win. Osayi-Samuel has rich experience in English football, having progressed through Blackpool's youth system, made over 100 appearances for Queens Park Rangers, and played four and a half years at Fenerbahce under coach José Mourinho. On the international stage, he has earned 22 caps for Nigeria and was part of the squad that finished runners-up at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Expressing his ambition, Osayi-Samuel stated that joining Birmingham City is a step towards playing in the Premier League and showcasing his abilities. He is expected to join his new teammates at their pre-season training camp in Portugal as the club aims to return to the top flight.
