Permanent Flying Tigers Exhibition Opens Liuzhou China, Honors WWII Legacy
A new permanent exhibition honoring the Flying Tigers, the American Volunteer Group that fought alongside Chinese forces during World War II, has opened at the Liuzhou Military Museum in Guangxi, China. The exhibit, featuring over 1,000 artifacts such as flight suits, diaries, and letters donated by families from both countries, highlights the deep bonds and cooperation forged between the U.S. and China during the war, especially focusing on Liuzhou as a pivotal base and transportation hub. Jeffrey Greene, chairman of the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation, emphasized the exhibition as a testament to the solidarity and friendship between the two nations formed through mutual sacrifice and rescue efforts of downed American pilots by Chinese civilians. The exhibition is free and includes five themed sections that vividly narrate the heroic stories of joint resistance against Japanese forces, aiming to inspire continued China-US relations and youth exchanges. The Museum of Flight in Seattle is also premiering a documentary on the Flying Tigers, featuring interviews with descendants and archival materials, underscoring the ongoing remembrance of this shared history amid current fragile relations between the two global powers. These initiatives collectively honor the legacy of the Flying Tigers and promote international friendship rooted in historical cooperation.
