Plane Crashes Kill Nine in Florida, New York

A plane crash near Boca Raton Airport on April 11 claimed the lives of 17-year-old Brooke Stark, her father Stephen Stark, and her grandfather Robert Stark, when their Cessna 310 crashed while attempting to return to the airport after experiencing mechanical issues. Witnesses reported the plane flying unusually low before crashing and exploding, prompting numerous 911 calls and a rapid emergency response. Brooke Stark, a senior at Atlantic High School and president of the National Honor Society, is being honored by classmates through memorials and the #BlueforBrooke campaign. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash. In a separate incident in Columbia County, New York, six people, including three Swarthmore College alumni, were killed in another plane crash during the same week. Both communities are mourning their losses and supporting the affected families.
