McConaughey, Pizzolatto Team for Mike Hammer Film

Matthew McConaughey is set to star as private detective Mike Hammer in a new film adaptation of the iconic novels, scripted by True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto. Skydance acquired the rights to the series, originally created by Mickey Spillane and continued by Max Allan Collins, with Collins serving as executive producer and Jane Spillane as co-producer. Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger are also producing the project. McConaughey’s casting marks his first live-action film role since 2019 and his first collaboration with Pizzolatto since their acclaimed work on True Detective season one. No director or release date has been announced yet, but anticipation is high for this high-profile adaptation.
