Harvard Medical Campus Explosion Prompts FBI Investigation
Early Saturday morning an explosion on the fourth floor of the Goldenson Building at Harvard’s Longwood medical campus was determined to be intentional; no injuries were reported. A Harvard University Police officer saw two people fleeing the scene after a fire alarm sounded, and HUPD released surveillance stills showing two masked, hooded suspects while urging anyone with information to call detectives at 617-495-1796. The Boston Fire Department Arson Unit concluded the blast was deliberate, and Boston police swept the building and found no additional explosive devices. The FBI and other local, state and federal law enforcement partners are assisting Harvard in the ongoing investigation. Harvard has not disclosed the full extent of interior damage as authorities continue to investigate.
