Multiple Bodies Recovered in U.S. and Malaysia
Multiple bodies recovered from waterways in the U.S. and Malaysia have prompted active investigations and post-mortems. In Kankakee, Illinois, an unidentified man was found by fishermen near a hydroelectric plant and was pronounced dead at 1:52 p.m. Saturday; an autopsy was scheduled. In New Orleans, Levee District Police alerted NOPD after an unresponsive man was found near the 7300 block of Lakeshore Drive and was declared deceased; the death is under investigation. In Subang/Bandar Sunway, Malaysia, an unidentified man dressed only in trousers was discovered near a river by a private college on Oct. 31; the remains were sent to UMMC for post-mortem, the case is classified as sudden death, and police are seeking public help to identify him. In Oregon, the body recovered from the North Santiam River on Oct. 24 was identified as 18-year-old Karandeep Singh; the Oregon Medical Examiner ruled the death an accidental drowning after he was last seen jumping into deeper water on Oct. 7, and local authorities coordinated with the Indian consulate to notify his family.
