Spurs Owners Reject Sale Claims After Levy Exit, Staveley Denies Bid Plans
Amanda Staveley, former co-owner of Newcastle United, is expected to issue a statement clarifying that she has no intention of making a formal bid for Tottenham Hotspur following the departure of chairman Daniel Levy after nearly 25 years. Staveley's investment vehicle, PCP International Finance, will confirm this after discussions with the UK Takeover Panel, which governs Spurs' ownership structure due to its majority ownership by the London-listed ENIC Group. Despite Staveley having been in talks with potential backers about a possible takeover, sources close to Tottenham's majority owners, the Lewis family, insist the club is not for sale. The club's ownership remains complex, with ENIC holding nearly 87% and Levy personally owning almost 30% of ENIC shares, while Joe Lewis has transferred control to his family trust. Although Staveley could potentially return with a bid if invited by ENIC or if a rival bidder emerges, there is currently no formal offer planned. CEO Vinai Venkatesham is expected to take a more prominent role in leading Spurs after Levy's exit, aiming to inject fresh momentum into the club.
