Sigma has announced the release of its highly anticipated 300-600mm f/4 DG OS Sports lens, designed for professional sports, wildlife, and action photography, set to launch in April 2025 at a price of $5,999. This ultra-telephoto zoom lens combines the optical excellence of a 600mm f/4 prime lens with the versatility of a zoom, featuring advanced stabilization and a rugged, weather-sealed body. Key specifications include 5.5 stops of optical stabilization, a construction of 28 elements in 21 groups to minimize aberrations, and customizable settings for enhanced usability. Additionally, Sigma introduced the 16-300mm f/3.5-6.7 DC OS Contemporary lens, touted as the world's first mirrorless lens with an 18.8x zoom ratio, priced at $699 and also launching in April. Both lenses are part of Sigma's commitment to high-quality optics and aim to meet the needs of serious photographers across various genres. CEO Kazuto Yamaki highlighted the importance of dedicated cameras in a smartphone-dominated market during the announcement.
