Otokar, Daimler Buses Sign 2026 Mercedes Conecto Production Deal in Türkiye

Daimler Buses and Turkish manufacturer Otokar have signed an agreement for Otokar to produce the conventionally powered Mercedes-Benz Conecto city bus at its Sakarya factory starting in September 2026. This partnership aims to expand production capacity in response to strong demand for Mercedes-Benz and Setra buses, with a contract running through the end of 2029 and a minimum production of 1,400 buses expected. Daimler Buses will supply key components and materials, while Otokar will handle assembly and production services. Both companies emphasized that the collaboration strengthens their market positions, improves profitability, and maintains high-quality standards. The Conecto, known for its robustness and affordability compared to other models like the Citaro, has been manufactured in Turkey since 1996 at a different plant. Otokar, a respected player in the bus industry with over 60 years of experience, views this deal as a significant step to enhance its production and secure a sustainable partnership with Daimler Buses.
