Toy Story 5 Brings Tech Antagonist and Woody's Return

Pixar has revealed that Toy Story 5 will be released on June 19, 2026, with the plot centering on Bonnie, now eight, as her interest shifts from her classic toys—now led by Sheriff Jessie and Buzz Lightyear—to a new antagonist, LilyPad, a frog-themed tech tablet. The toys struggle with being replaced by technology, symbolizing children's evolving play habits. The opening scene, previewed at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, features multiple Buzz Lightyear toys stranded on a beach after a shipping container crash, exploring themes of identity. Woody, who left for new adventures in Toy Story 4, is set to return to help the toys face this new challenge.
