NJ Man Charged With Murder of NBA Star Naz Reid’s Sister

Shaquille Green, 29, has been charged with murder and weapons offenses in the fatal shooting of Toraya Reid, 28, the sister of Minnesota Timberwolves player Naz Reid, at the Paragon Apartment Complex in Jackson, New Jersey. Police responded to reports of shots fired and found Toraya Reid unresponsive, having been shot multiple times near the complex’s exit. Green was apprehended nearby, carrying a Glock 20 handgun, which he was not licensed to own, and told police he believed Reid was cheating on him after seeing another man leave her apartment. Witnesses reported hearing screams and gunshots, with one witnessing Green shoot Reid while she was lying on the ground. Green, who has a history of chronic unemployment, waived his right to an attorney during initial questioning and is being held in Ocean County jail pending a detention hearing. Naz Reid, a native of New Jersey and the NBA’s 2023-2024 Sixth Man of the Year, has not publicly commented on the incident.
