Connecticut Woman Charged in Dayville 'Toy Story' Shooting

Michelle Yeagher, 65, was arrested and charged with murder and related counts after Connecticut state police say she shot 39-year-old Andrew Michael Olson in the chest Monday night at a Pratt Road home in the Dayville section of Killingly while Olson was watching Toy Story with a 12-year-old child. Troopers found Olson unresponsive around 9:31 p.m.; he was transported to Day Kimball Hospital, where he died. Yeagher was detained at the residence, appeared highly intoxicated (one report said she was naked from the waist down), and told police she shot Olson because he "came after" her and tried to kill her; she later told investigators she woke frightened, retrieved a gun from a safe after drinking, and then heard someone in distress. She faces charges including murder, carrying a firearm while under the influence, risk of injury to a child, and first-degree reckless endangerment, and is being held on $1 million bond. The investigation remains active, a court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 11, and authorities have not publicly detailed the relationships among Yeagher, the victim and the child.
