Funerals Held for Fermanagh Triple Murder Victims
Funerals for Vanessa Whyte, a veterinary surgeon, and her children James and Sara Rutledge, who were shot dead at their home in Maguiresbridge, Co Fermanagh, were held in both Maguiresbridge and Barefield, Co Clare. Vanessa was originally from Barefield. The only suspect in the triple murder-suicide, Ian Rutledge, 43, died in hospital after the incident. The funeral Mass was led by Bishop Ger Nash, a family friend, with large crowds, including GAA clubs and local community members, in attendance. Attendees were asked to wear bright colours in honour of the family, and donations in their memory were encouraged to Women’s Aid. The three victims were buried together in Templemaley Cemetery, with tributes emphasising their kindness and vibrant spirits.
