Ben Affleck, Matt Damon Star Miami Cop Thriller 'The Rip' Releasing January

Netflix's upcoming film "The Rip," set to premiere on January 16, 2026, reunites Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in a Miami-based cop thriller directed and written by Joe Carnahan. The story follows a team of Miami cops who discover millions of dollars in a derelict stash house, leading to escalating distrust and betrayal within the unit as outside forces close in. Inspired by a real-life mission from a friend in Miami Dade PD's Tactical Narcotics division and classic 1970s cop thrillers, the film explores themes of loyalty and masculinity, with Affleck portraying an unapologetically 'throwback' role. Produced by Affleck, Damon, and their studio Artists Equity—known for championing non-traditional filmmaking—the movie features a strong ensemble cast including Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, and Kyle Chandler.
