Railway 200 National Exhibition Train Opens Sussex, Bluebell Railway
Several railway-themed events and exhibitions are taking place across the UK in 2025 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the modern railway. The London Transport Museum in Covent Garden offers a comprehensive family program featuring creative, educational activities about the history and future of London's railways, including coding toy trains and building pop-up railway models. Meanwhile, the Bluebell Railway in Sussex hosts the Inspiration train, a mobile exhibition with interactive exhibits and a train driving simulator, running from July 23 to 29 as part of the national Railway 200 celebrations. The Severn Valley Railway recently reopened its full route and is holding a vintage transport extravaganza with restored steam and diesel locomotives alongside displays of historic vehicles. Additionally, model railway enthusiasts can attend the Telford exhibition featuring layouts from N to O gauge, vintage toys, and ride-on steam trains. These events collectively offer immersive experiences celebrating rail heritage and innovation, appealing to families, railway fans, and the general public.
