50 Cent Allowed To Seize Former Employee’s $1M Connecticut Home Over $7M Fraud Judgment
Rapper and businessman 50 Cent has been granted court approval to seize the Connecticut home of Mitchell Green, a former executive at 50 Cent's liquor company, Sire Spirits, who embezzled over $2 million through a kickback scheme between 2018 and 2020. After Green confessed following an extortion attempt, Sire Spirits sued him and was awarded nearly $7 million in damages, legal fees, and interest, a debt Green unsuccessfully tried to discharge through bankruptcy. A federal bankruptcy judge lifted the automatic stay on Green's Chapter 7 case, allowing Sire Spirits to enforce a lien and begin foreclosure proceedings on Green's Westport property, which is appraised at around $1 million but is underwater due to existing debts. The court ruled that Green's fraudulent conduct disqualified him from full homestead exemption protections, limiting his legal safeguards to $75,000 and enabling immediate foreclosure. Throughout the legal battle, 50 Cent publicly mocked Green on social media, highlighting his modus operandi of shaming individuals who owe him money. This case marks a significant legal victory for 50 Cent, whose company Branson Cognac and Chemin du Roi Champagne are managed through Sire Spirits.
