Teens Arrested for School Shooting Threats in Minnesota, Massachusetts

Two teenagers have been arrested for threatening school shootings in separate incidents in 2025. In Nevis, Minnesota, a 14-year-old boy threatened to shoot up Nevis Public School, a specific student, and then himself; after interviews with students and a confession at home, he was taken to a juvenile detention center. In Falmouth, Massachusetts, 18-year-old Ian Fotheringham was charged with threatening to use a deadly weapon in a public building after police received information about his intent to shoot up a school, his affiliation with a white supremacist group, and refurbishing guns. Authorities found photos of the Columbine shooting on his phone and a large 3D printer capable of producing firearms during a search of his home. Fotheringham was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing and competency evaluation.
