Gibson TV Plans Tony Iommi Metal Documentary Series Fall

Gibson TV is set to release a limited series titled "Tony Iommi: The Godfather of Heavy Metal" this autumn, exploring the influential legacy of Black Sabbath's guitarist Tony Iommi and his pivotal role in shaping heavy metal music. The series features commentary from renowned musicians including Brian May, Slash, Zakk Wylde, Dave Mustaine, Steve Vai, Scott Ian, Rex Brown, and Kirk Hammett, highlighting Iommi's impact on their careers and the genre's evolution. The documentary traces the origins of heavy metal in Birmingham, England, emphasizing Iommi's distinctive riff style and songwriting that inspired numerous sub-genres and connected millions through a spirit of rebellion and passion. Concurrently, Gibson is reissuing Iommi's signature humbucker pickup, originally developed in the late 1990s, praised by Iommi for its unique tone and sustain.
