Driver Dead After Police Chase Crash Brighton, Livingston County

A police chase in Brighton, Livingston County, ended tragically when a black Dodge Charger fleeing officers crashed on Old US-23, resulting in the death of the driver, who was the sole occupant. The pursuit began after officers observed the vehicle driving recklessly on West Grand River Avenue and lasted through several streets before the fatal crash. During the chase, the Charger attempted to pass a southbound vehicle by entering the northbound lanes, sideswiped the southbound car, spun, struck a northbound vehicle, and rolled over. The driver of the sideswiped vehicle was uninjured, while the driver of the northbound vehicle sustained minor injuries and was treated as a precaution. Preliminary investigations suggest excessive speed contributed to the crash, and authorities continue to investigate the potential involvement of drugs or alcohol. All drivers involved were wearing seatbelts, and the Livingston County Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the incident.
