Kazuki Higa of Japan successfully defended his title at the Shinhan Donghae Open by holding off strong challenges from Canadian Richard T Lee and Zimbabwe's Scott Vincent. Higa secured victory with a final round 68, finishing one stroke ahead of both Lee and Vincent, after an early birdie streak and a tense back nine. Higa’s performance was highlighted by his powerful and precise play, including a third-round seven-under 65 that propelled him into the lead with a 14-under total. Despite his relatively short stature, Higa’s game strength and composure under pressure were key to his success. Notably, no South Korean players finished in the top five, with the best Korean golfers tied for eighth place, expressing determination to challenge foreign players. The tournament, co-hosted by the KPGA, JGTO, and Asian Tour, featured a prize fund increase and offered the winner entry into three other tournaments.
