Matthew McConaughey, America Ferrera Rescue Children from 2018 California Wildfire
Apple TV+ has released the trailer for "The Lost Bus," a survival thriller based on the true story of the 2018 Camp Fire, the deadliest wildfire in California's history. The film stars Matthew McConaughey as Kevin McKay, a troubled school bus driver who, alongside teacher Mary Ludwig (America Ferrera), races to rescue 23 children stranded at a school threatened by the inferno. Directed by Oscar nominee Paul Greengrass and based on Lizzie Johnson's nonfiction book, the movie portrays the harrowing escape through fire-ravaged Paradise, California, highlighting themes of quiet heroism and hope amid disaster. McConaughey’s return to live-action films after a six-year break adds emotional depth, especially with his real-life son and mother playing family members on screen. "The Lost Bus" will debut in select theaters on September 19 and stream on Apple TV+ starting October 3. Producers Jamie Lee Curtis and Jason Blum are also involved, and the film aims to honor the resilience of those caught in the wildfire.
