Two Ogden Men Face Nearly 1,000 Animal Abuse Charges
Two Ogden men, Miguel Salgado-Vargas and Ramon Cano Aispuro, face nearly 1,000 misdemeanor charges after authorities rescued 156 dogs and 11 cats from their home in extremely poor and overcrowded conditions. Salgado-Vargas, 73, was charged with 637 counts, while Aispuro faces 338 similar charges, including animal cruelty, failure to obtain rabies vaccinations, public nuisance, and keeping unlicensed animals. The animals were removed by multiple animal control agencies and distributed to shelters and rescue organizations, with none needing euthanasia. Both men are scheduled to appear in court in July, with each class B misdemeanor charge carrying up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. Salgado-Vargas also had 149 dogs removed from the same address in 2012 but did not face charges at that time. Authorities praised the swift cooperation that ensured the animals' safety and care.
