Quavo’s Rocket Foundation Launches Therapy Fund for Atlanta Shooting Victims
In response to a recent weekend in Atlanta that saw 49 people shot and two deaths connected to the Rocket Foundation, rapper Quavo and his nonprofit have launched the Therapy Support Fund to provide trauma-informed mental health services for youth and families affected by gun violence. The fund supports community groups like HOPE Hustlers and Offender Alumni Association, which are engaged in violence intervention, mentorship, and frontline support. Among the victims were 18-year-old Deshawn Johnson, a participant in the Rocket Foundation's youth camp, and Aaron Hines, known as "Coach Ball," a leader with Offender Alumni Association, both of whom were deeply involved in community upliftment. Quavo founded the Rocket Foundation in 2022 after the shooting death of his nephew Takeoff, committing $2 million toward violence intervention and recently appointing Gregory Jackson Jr., former Deputy Director for the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, as its president. The fund aims to offer immediate therapeutic care and promote long-term healing in neighborhoods suffering from repeated violence amid a rise in gun-related crime in Atlanta. Donations can be made through the Rocket Foundation’s official channels to support this initiative.
