ADNOC Signs Three Gecko Agreements, Expands Microsoft Deal
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) signed three agreements with U.S. start-up Gecko Robotics at the ENACT Majlis on Nov. 2 to accelerate AI and robotics across its operations and to train UAE nationals. The deals include a multi-year deployment with ADNOC Gas through AIQ to roll out Gecko’s Cantilever operating system for robotic inspection and real-time analytics; a broader framework to deploy robotics and AI analytics across upstream and downstream assets and evaluate local manufacturing; and a partnership with ADNOC Technical Academy to build Emirati skills in robotics, data analysis and maintenance. ADNOC CEO Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber said the moves are part of its journey to become “the world’s most AI‑enabled energy company,” emphasizing expected gains in efficiency, safety and performance. Separately, ADNOC expanded a deal with Microsoft — joined by Masdar and XRG — to co-develop AI agents, support Microsoft’s AI and data‑centre growth, and deliver advanced AI tools and upskilling across ADNOC’s value chain. Together, the agreements signal ADNOC’s strategy to embed AI across operations, localize high‑tech production where feasible, and prepare the local workforce for emerging energy‑tech roles.
