Wakulla County Crash Leaves One Dead, Another Critically Injured

An 18-year-old driver died and her 13-year-old passenger remains in critical condition following a single-vehicle rollover crash in Wakulla County, Florida, on April 23. The Florida Highway Patrol reports that the car, traveling west on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Road, exited the roadway while negotiating a curve, re-entered, crossed the center line, then left the road again, striking several trees before overturning into a wooded area. Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Emergency responders, including Wakulla County EMS, Fire Rescue, and the Sheriff's Office, assisted at the scene, and both victims were transported to Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare. The Florida Highway Patrol’s Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the incident. Road closures were implemented in the area to facilitate emergency response, including a medical helicopter airlift.
