Mets Place Reed Garrett, Frankie Montas on Injured List

The New York Mets placed right-handed reliever Reed Garrett on the 15-day injured list due to inflammation in his right elbow, though the team is optimistic about a relatively quick return as an MRI showed no ligament damage. Garrett, who has made a career-high 54 appearances this season with a 3.61 ERA, has struggled recently, posting an 8.00 ERA in August and allowing multiple runs in several of his last outings.
