Cameron Young Claims First PGA Tour Victory
Cameron Young, age 28, claimed his first PGA Tour victory at the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina, finishing at 22-under 258 and winning by six shots, tying the tournament scoring record. The win came in his 94th Tour start, after seven runner-up finishes, and makes Young the 1,000th unique PGA Tour winner. Young built a nine-shot lead with five consecutive birdies early in the final round and expressed emotional relief at finally breaking through. Mac Meissner finished second, while Mark Hubbard and Alex Noren tied for third. The win moves Young to No. 15 in the Ryder Cup standings and No. 16 in the FedEx Cup rankings, strengthening his case for a U.S. Ryder Cup team spot. The tournament also marked the end of the regular PGA Tour season, with the top 70 players advancing to the FedEx Cup Playoffs.
